Aryaka named as Visionary in latest Gartner WAN Optimization Magic Quadrant
May 1st, 2013 | No Comments »As you may have seen by now, Aryaka was positioned in the Visionaries quadrant of Gartner’s 2013 Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers (WOCs). It usually takes companies years to be rated so highly on Completeness of Vision by Gartner. We were rated higher than all companies covered except purchased WAN Optimization appliance market leader Riverbed, despite the fact that we’ve only been selling our service for about two and a half years.

It’s clear that this is because Gartner believes that the market is moving in our direction: WAN Optimization as a fully managed service; no CapEx required; can be deployed in minutes or hours, not weeks or months; leveraging the economics of the Internet for last mile connections; integrated monitoring / visibility; a multi-segment architecture with an Integrated core network delivering accelerated performance between sites and for access to cloud / SaaS services, rather than needing to source MPLS, WAN Optimization and monitoring/visibility separately.
Alan Kay, a Xerox PARC (you know, the place where Steve Jobs “borrowed” most of the ideas for the Macintosh) guy who later was hired by Jobs to be an Apple fellow, famously said “the best way to predict the future is to invent it.” At Aryaka, we’re doing just that, and we’re proud that Gartner has recognized it.
Just as SaaS from companies like Salesforce.com has revolutionized how business pay for and use complex applications software, WAN Optimization as-a-Service is revolutionizing how enterprises pay for and use complex WAN Optimization technologies, buying a multi-tenant service managed by someone else, rather than having to pay large upfront CapEx costs and manage the technology themselves. And just as with SaaS, delivering this capability as a service is ideal for the underserved mid-market precisely because of the low entry cost and because it eliminates the need for time and skilled personnel to manage the technology. And just as with SaaS, this will migrate to more and more larger enterprises over time.
Of course, with our as-a-Service solution you are not really buying a WOC at all. But this is the relevant market segment Magic Quadrant for Gartner to categorize us in today. We’re confident that within a few years, Gartner will rename this quadrant to something like “WAN Optimization”, removing the reference to “Controller” from the category, as the direction toward which we’re pulling the industry becomes the norm. Maybe Gartner will go all the way to calling it the WAN Optimization Service Magic Quadrant; our crystal ball isn’t that good.

The Critical Role of Information Technology in the Enterprise [Infographic]
April 4th, 2013 | No Comments »As a company working every day on solving application and network performance issues faced by the distributed enterprise, here at Aryaka were are definitely aware of the importance of information technology in the modern business enterprise. Thus we thought it would be a fun exercise to take some of the data points we have come across recently and to use them to create the following infographic.
In the visualization below, we drew from a variety of sources for the raw data such as www.cioinsight.com, www.capgemini.com, and www.forrester.com. There are a lot of insights that can be drawn from the data points we referenced below, but the general theme we repeatedly saw is that today’s enterprise organizations have a high demand for skilled IT staff, and 24/7/365 IT coverage. A big driver of this demand is the shift of data storage, collaboration tools, networking services, and other applications to the cloud. With so much information and access now available through the cloud, organizations can work much more efficiently across multiple locations. However, all of this cloud technology presents a number of challenges related to application performance which we touch on towards the end of the graphic as well.
