F1 in Schools – Team Godspeed & Aryaka

F1 in Schools is an international STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) competition for school children in which groups of 3-6 students have to design, manufacture a “miniature F1 race car” out of the official F1 model block using CAD / CAM design tools including Autodesk Fusion 360, which are then 3-D printed and raced. Other than designing the car, students also have to market themselves, find sponsors, make presentations, and document everything through their portfolios.

Team GodSpeed is a team of six 9th and 10th graders- Bhavya, Devansh, Ravish, Anwesha, Rinesh, and Mischa. We have participated in the regionals and nationals and now, we are one of the few teams that have been invited for the F1 in Schools Open Nationals of 2020-21. After this come the world finals which are held along the grand Prix and will provide us with an opportunity to represent India if we win. Our team has been working together efficiently for more than two years now and we have come far by learning to use our strengths to our advantage and covering for each other’s weaknesses. We believe in accelerators, not brakes. We have already come far in the competition by finishing our car, maintaining 3-4 collaborations and sponsors, and raising a total of Rs. 70K to fund our work.

We extensively used CAD/CAM software to make several elements for our team. The use of technology has become essential as we used such tools to make our logo, car design, pitbooth design and much more. Additionally, we used it to visualize the manufacturing process using the built-in models for CNC and 3D printing. Through computer aided analysis, we analysed the properties of our car and tested the prototypes to check how the variables affecting the aerodynamics of the car (drag force and coefficient) can be improved. Through this process we corrected our mistakes and put forward our best work.

We are thrilled to announce that Aryaka is officially the title sponsor for Team Godspeed. Aryaka will support us through our journey ahead and we couldn’t be more grateful! With Aryaka’s help, we will be able to make this dream a reality. We have participated in the nationals once already, and this time we will definitely do much better than before, as we have reflected and learned from our mistakes. After the nationals, we aim to reach the Internationals, which would be a lifetime opportunity for each of us and could have a great impact on our future careers. We could get an opportunity to represent India at the World Finals.
