Healthcare Technology Provider Deploys Global SD-WAN to Connect Worldwide Partner Locations with the VMware Cloud
MILPITAS, CA. August 31, 2016 — Aryaka®,the global SD-WAN provider, announced today that Augmedix, a healthcare technology provider, deployed Aryaka’s global SD-WAN solution for their Internet-of-Things (IoT) based application to provide reliable and fast network connectivity to their global partner locations.
Powered by Google Glass and other smartglass platforms, Augmedix enables physicians to communicate in real-time with human experts (scribes) located across the globe through a VMware cloud data center to document the health records of patients. The information is then accessed by scribes in branch offices across the world over Aryaka’s global private network, enabling the production of required health record documentation. This technology helps physicians reclaim the hours spent every day entering and retrieving electronic health data, allowing them to focus on patient care to a greater extent.
“A reliable and fast global connectivity platform is key for the effective implementation of Augmedix’s revolutionary technology,” said Venkat Kankipati, VP and Head of IT, Infrastructure, and Customer Engineering at Augmedix. “Doctors spend a significant amount of their time on EHR documentation. Aryaka helps Augmedix take away the burden of documentation from doctors by enabling the task to be outsourced to scribes around the world. Our mission is to re-humanize health care and revolutionize the doctor-patient engagement using wearable technology/IoT. We now experience significantly improved application performance, low and stable latencies over the network, and better quality of service!”
Aryaka’s global SD-WAN is built on a global private network, which bypasses the congested public Internet, delivering stable connectivity and fast application performance, even to external stakeholders like partners and customers.
“We only needed to leverage our existing internet connections on the last mile to on-ramp to the nearest Aryaka Point of Presence (PoP), and we immediately observed dramatically improved performance of our IoT application when accessed from globally distributed partner locations,” said Kankipati.
On deploying Aryaka’s global SD-WAN, Augmedix experienced the following benefits:
- Accelerated and stable connectivity, with reliable and scalable WAN bandwidth
- Real-time network and application visibility
- 24×7 CCIE-level customer support
“We are excited to support Augmedix in their efforts of harnessing IoT to revolutionize patient care in the United States,” said Ashwath Nagaraj, Founder and CTO at Aryaka. “Rapid transfer of IoT data in real-time between distant global locations requires a fast and stable connectivity medium. Not only does Aryaka’s global SD-WAN deliver fast and predictable application performance, stable latencies, and low packet loss, but it can be deployed within days, unlike MPLS which can take months, and thus, support the agility needs of rapidly growing companies like Augmedix.”
Augmedix is the first and largest Google Glass startup of any kind. Its service frees doctors from mandated charting, allowing them to focus instead on patient needs and quality care. Before entering the exam room, a doctor dons Google Glass and then proceeds to talk with patients, rather than burying their head in a computer screen. Forms, health history, lab orders, prescriptions and more are completed effortlessly using a remote scribe, verbal notes and commands. The service is HIPAA-compliant, works with all EHRs and increases doctor productivity by more than 30 percent.
Aryaka is transforming how global enterprises connect sites and users worldwide, and use mission-critical applications to support modern business execution demands. Aryaka’s Global SD-WAN combines a purpose-built private network, SD-WAN, optimization and acceleration techniques, connectivity to cloud platforms, and network visibility in a single solution that is delivered as a service.
